Digitalisation of Internal Logistics with a Transport Robot

04. 12. 2018

At the TNT event, we presented the development work of our robotics team in the last 18 months for the first time. We introduced a transport robot, specifically, an autonomous vehicle that represents an innovation in internal logistics digitalisation.

On 29 November 2018, Technology Park Ljubljana organised a TNT (Top n' Tech) wrap-up event at which the crème-de-la-crème of Slovenian growth companies gathered. Around 100 participants enjoyed the excellent energy, relaxed atmosphere and fascinating topics discussed.

This event was also an opportunity for selected companies to present their technological achievements. Epilog used it for a first-time presentation of the work of our robotics team (RoboCrew). Led by Dr Viktor Zaletelj, the team has, in just over a year, developed a robot/autonomous vehicle that will enable even more effective digitalisation of internal logistics.

Autonomous Vehicle Performance
The autonomous vehicle is distinguished by advanced sensorics, image processing with neural networks, deep learning, intelligent steering, and active cooperation with humans and fellow robots. The robot uses more than five simultaneous location methods and several parallel navigation methods for localisation and mapping, with capabilities for dynamic avoidance of obstacles, searching alternative paths and optimisation. It may seem small, but the robot’s performance is impressive: it can carry loads of up to 200 kg and pull trailers weighing up to 600 kg, and can even drive at a speed of 5 m/s. Congratulations to our colleagues from RoboCrew for their work. We believe that by having a development-oriented work environment and a dedicated team, we will soon be able to present all of the distinguishing features of this robot as well as its application in practice.

The project is partly co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Slovenia.
